Ebay Finds: This came in a cardigan?

Photobucket

Okay, tell me this isn't kinda' cool. After the Norwegian Sweater jerk-fest this fall, wearing this would just tickle me silly. It's kind of like when everyone rides up in white limos and someone mixes it up with a black limo. It comes off as a little femme, but with the right confidence, I think you could wear this without looking like a hipster.

My call: good taste in the right circumstances.

Bad Taste?: Two shoes in one shoe?

Converse tried this a couple years back. You know, the whole two sneaks in one deal-io. It's not like you're getting more for your money (that's not completely true, you're getting more retarded design for your money). Comme des Garcons Homme has taken the two sneaks in one deal into their own hands and have made something that's pretty much the same thing as Converse did. It's kind of like cloning poop. I hope you don't buy these.

However, here's some good taste for ya'. B Store A/W throws down. Crepe soles and rich leather are meant for each other. Note the red laces on the navy boot.

Pangs of Love: Matt Singer Collection

I've been less than impressed with the stuff (otherwise known as trad/workwear) coming out lately. Blah, blah, same old, same old, and 'that isn't calling my name'. Seriously, how many blue parkas does a man need (half a dozen, if the companies had their way)? And how many Redwing boots (I don't actually own a pair, that's not a sin, is it?)? Because everything's been watered down recently, I haven't felt a need to post anything - at all. But after seeing Matt Singer's belts, I gushed. They immediately made me wish for the beach, like a good song or linen shirt. Like most of the stuff I throw up here, I think the images speak for themselves.

Parting thoughts: A monkey on a scale? Now that's memorable branding.

Music: Mayer Hawthorne

Photobucket

Wowzer, I don't think I have to post much about this guy but there are a couple details I'd like to point out. He's from Ann Arbor and got to absorb a lot of the Motown culture growing up, he wears a tie more often than not, and he eats chili dogs; which happens to be one of the best ways to eat a hot dog. Other than that, I think his tunes speak for him.

Bad Taste?: Polka Dots

Photobucket

I mean, c'mon, polka dots are something best left for kid's clothes right? They give off a vague (or strong, I guess it depends on how far you look into what the person is wearing) impression that the wearer is silly and prone to immaturity. I thinks it's fair to say that polka dots are immensely difficult to pull off. I attempted the maintain the mental image of myself wearing the shirts shown above, and after contemplating it, I decided PeeWee's Playhouse is not the look I'm going for. I must admit that the shirts themselves are attractive, as Engineered Garments really completed the shirt by adding the club collar. Polka dots on a straight collar is likened to putting stripes on a club collar, it's just a little off. I think it's fair to rule polka dots out unless you're a skinny or silly boy.

Copped: Rome SDS "The Coozie"

Photobucket

When I saw these at Martini Skate and Snow while spending a weekend with a friend in Hudson, Ohio, I was tickled by the design and had to get them (under the guise of needing a new pair of glove liners). In case you couldn't tell, the design is inspired by the PBR logo. In general, I wanted to share with you this 'tongue in cheek' humor produced by this snowboarding company.
Would me wearing these be bad taste? Probably, but that's the point.

Parting thoughts:
Another dose of bad music.
